This is an example of an artesian well. Natural pressure produces a constant supply of water with no pumping. This is only possible in limited areas.

This is an example of a well that is being air developed. This process clears the newly drilled well of drill cuttings and debris by forcing air into the well. As you can see the water appears to be springing out of the ground.
